Since Paul Wesslund retired from Kentucky Living in 2015 he’s been freelance writing on energy and other topics, doing public speaking and communications consulting with electric co-ops, building his eclectic music collection, exercising, and following his beloved Minnesota Twins.
Currently doing business as Highway 61 Communications, LLC, Paul spent 20 years as vice president for communications and editor of Kentucky Living with the Kentucky Association of Electric Cooperatives. He worked for 16 years at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association in Washington, D.C. From 1975 to 1979 he worked for daily newspapers in North Dakota. He grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he graduated from Macalester College.
He lives in Louisville with his wife of 30 years, Debbie, who works as a public education advocate, and their beagle, Bentley. Their daughter, Emma, works in development with the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C.
