Angie Oakley, “Ask the Gardener,” has been contributing to Kentucky Living since 2005. As a master gardener, personal gardener/designer and all around plant nerd, she enjoys helping readers and clients with their gardening questions. Her horticulture knowledge is grounded in experience and continued education. She believes we all deserve to be surrounded by beauty and to have the opportunity to grow our own food.

Angie comes from many generations of gardeners; her love of gardening and nature was instilled at a young age. Angie has lived many places, but has grown roots and her family in Kentucky. She currently lives, writes, cooks, and gardens in Shelby County. Angie is a mixed media artist, wife, and mom of two active kids who love digging in the soil, too.
