Rowan County Regional Quilt Show Announces Classes
This year the Rowan County Regional Quilt Show will offer five classes during the weeks prior to the Saturday, March 20 show. Classes will be held at venues throughout Morehead and require pre-registration and prepayment, as space in each class is limited.
~Quilt Basics I class at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 123 E. Main St., Morehead, on Monday, March 2, from 1 – 3 p.m. Join Evelyn Morgan to learn quilting basics, terminology, and cutting skills. $10 fee; all supplies furnished to participants. Call Evelyn at (606) 475-0091 to register. Limit of 15 participants.
~Quilt Basics II class at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 123 E. Main St., Morehead, on Tuesday, March 3, from 1 – 4 p.m. Learn to make Nine Patch and Half Square Triangles for a table runner. $20 fee includes all supplies. Call Evelyn at (606) 475-0091 to register. Limit of 15 participants.
~Wooden Barn Block class located at Peggy’s Place at the Morehead City Park will allow participants to paint a vintage Ohio Star quilt block pattern on a 2′ x 2′ wooden plaque. Prepped for outdoor or indoor use. Limited to 15 participants; the fee is $50 with all materials provided. To register call (606) 207-0742. Facilitated by Patty Mains/Debbie Howes/Jane Roark.
For the following classes, participants will need to bring their own sewing machine and general sewing supplies (rotary cutter, mat, thread, pens, two wound bobbins, extra needles, 1/4” and regular sewing feet.)
~Barn & Silo Wall Hanging at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 123 E. Main St., Morehead, on Wednesday, March 11, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. This class will offer techniques for making a Barn-Silo wall-hanging as seen on the Quilt Show Raffle Quilt. Class limit 15, with kits provided. Register: (606) 876-3216. Taught by Jane Roark.
~Charm Quilt on Point at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 123 E. Main St., Morehead, on Friday, March 13, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Learn to make an easy and quick on-point charm quilt. You will finish this 57” x 57” quilt in one class. Class limit 15, participants supply their own fabric. For class requirements and to register call Jane Roark (606)876-3216.
In addition to these five classes, there will be two quilt shop classes.
*On Saturday, March 7, 1 p.m.-4 p.m., the Quilt Heaven Quilt Shop, 5306 South KY 7, Grayson, will offer Twisted Braid Table Runner. Participants will make an intricate table runner easily with a Braided Twist Ruler. $35 fee includes ruler and pattern. Limit 10. Fabric not included. Call Evelyn Morgan to register (606) 475-0091.
