THE BOBBY DRIVER SCHOLARSHIP: “MUSIC THROUGH THE DECADES”

The “16th Singing for Scholarships” will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, beginning at 7:00 pm at the Historical Plaza Theatre. This year’s theme is “Music through the Decades” and features musical entertainment from the Western Kentucky University Jazz Band and No Deposit Band. Lots of local talent will take the stage to entertain you, including: Depp Alexander, All About Dance Team, Tambra Cambron, Audrey Crain, Lorraine Elleman, GHS Scottie Singers, (National Beta Show Choir Champions for 2023), Jude Kingrey, Haley Biggers Smith, Todd Woodward, and Melanie Watson.
Western Kentucky University Jazz Band, No Deposit Band, and our performers will take you through the Roaring 20s, as you enjoy the Frantic Charleston dance by the All About Dance team, followed by hot jazz and swing from the big band era of the 30s, the “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” by the Andrews Sisters of the 40s. They will bring music from all genres to the stage from “My Old Kentucky Home” to the songs from Grease, paying homage to the 50s, and the Rock N’ Roll era, including the Fab Four Beatles who brought the British invasion to the states. We will feature music by Elvis, the King of Rock and roll, to Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, and from superstar bands like the Eagles, and the music from current sensation Taylor Swift. The night will feature instrumental and vocal songs taking you through the best and timeless music of each decade.
