Share your Kentucky Living stories
MY WIFE, KIM, AND I ARE PAINTERS. We love being creative, and my wife, especially, loves meeting people and sharing her art with others.
Recently, she participated in an art show and started talking with a couple of ladies who were attending. She told them she lived in Louisville and asked where they were from. They laughed and told her it was a small town and she’d probably never heard of it.
In my career at Nolin RECC, Fleming-Mason Energy and now as CEO of Kentucky Electric Cooperatives, I’ve come to know many of Kentucky’s small towns—and she has, too.
So, she asked if they were members of an electric cooperative. Yes, that did it—Owen Electric.
She went on to tell them that I worked for Kentucky Electric Cooperatives, publisher of Kentucky Living magazine.
“No way!” one of the ladies said. “Are you serious? We LOVE that magazine!” They went on to say they based their monthly plans on recommendations and event highlights from each issue.
How incredible! These ladies, and many of you, value our magazine and trust it so much that you plan your outings around the things that we cover. This is not the first time we’ve heard that kind of feedback, but it blows me away every time.
Everything we do—at the magazine, at the statewide association and especially at the local cooperative level—is ultimately for you.
So, to those ladies who are Owen Electric consumer-members, thank you. Thank you for sharing your story with my wife (and for telling my daughter she looks just like me!). We appreciate you, and I want you to know that you’ve inspired me.
I’d love to hear more of your stories. How do you use Kentucky Living? Have you been inspired to take a trip? Have you made friends at events we’ve recommended?
