Owen Electric Kicks Off Community Service by Planting Trees
On July 2o, and in some very hot weather, Owen Electric Cooperative’s Community Service initiative began with planting trees for the Grant County Public Library.
Each year, employees of Owen Electric are allotted a day away from their regular schedule to contribute to a community service project or initiative. This year, employees decided to band together in teams, selecting a day to accomplish a project together.
“The team for this particular project consisted of Jude Canchola, Whitney Duvall, Jennifer Gravitt, Wes Petzinger, and myself” said Mike Stafford, Manager of Business and Government Relations. “[OEC] will continue seeking opportunities to contribute to the local communities and counties we serve.”
The overcast provided some relief from the heat, but during the course of the project, four new trees were planted and mulched on the library grounds, a dead tree removed, and all debris and left over dirt cleaned up and hauled away.
