A brighter day
We made it through the rain
ONE YEAR AGO, I wrote here about my prayers for you and our country, sharing a photo of our nation’s flag displayed on a weather-beaten Kentucky barn.
Amid the height of the pandemic and civil unrest, I shared it with the hope of a brighter future and a belief in the values that guide your electric cooperative. And I ended my column with the reminder that “the sun still shines above the storm.”
Of the 2,460 submissions in Kentucky Living’s 2021 Photo Contest, this one by Taylor RECC consumer-member Robert Ellis captures my sentiments this year. It shows as the rains fed the fields in Green County, the clouds began to thin and sunflowers craned their necks for the brighter day ahead. Indeed, the sun still shined above the storm.
Our commonwealth, nation and world still face many challenges, but I am craning my neck to see the sun.
