Sweetheart Dances, Stargazing, Dancing To Motown, And More

Tracking and Woodslore Weekend
On the weekend of March 2-4 step back in time to the 18th century, when American Indians and European Americans lived closer to nature. Learn skills necessary for everyday life and enjoy nature, tracking, culture, and history in outdoor and indoor settings. Weekend workshop fee Friday-Sunday morning is $25 adults, $15 children (15 and under); two-night lodge/workshop package $124.95 single or $149.95 double. Pre-registration required. Super Soul Motown
Get your groove on at Frankfort’s Grand Theatre for “Super Soul Motown & More” on February 10, 7:30-10 p.m. Return to the 1960s, when Motown ruled the radio and dance floors around the world as Dance Kaleidoscope of Indianapolis presents an evening of contemporary dance set to Motown hits. DK will dance three world premieres set to the songs of Aretha Franklin, The Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, and more. Tickets are $20-35. Sweetheart Dates at Parks Several Kentucky State Parks are offering special packages to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The parks will feature dances, entertainment, or special dinners the weekend of February 10-12. For example, Pine Mountain (February 11) and Lake Barkley (February 10-11) State Resort Parks plan Sweetheart Dinner and Dance Weekends with live music, and General Butler State Resort Park will host a February 11 Dinner Theatre complete with a Blues Brothers tribute band. State resort parks offer a great chance for a getaway weekend along with excellent food, entertainment, and natural beauty and scenery. Cumberland Falls State Resort Park near Corbin offers the perfect setting for an evening of stargazing on February 18. Learn to read a sky map and look at celestial bodies through telescopes (provided or bring your own), with instructional class regardless of weather. Free; future stargazing also March 3, April 28, May 12, September 29, October 20, and November 24.
