Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Weekend

Roughly 400,000 people in the United States have multiple
sclerosis, a chronic, sometimes progressive, disease of the central nervous system,
the symptoms of which can range from blurred vision to complete paralysis. Researchers
at the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville are among the many
seeking a cure for the disease, whose cause is unknown.

Workshops to learn more about MS, plus fun activities,
will be part of the 2001 MS Awareness Weekend sponsored by the Kentucky Southeast
Indiana Chapter of the National MS Society, June 29-July 1 at the Embassy Suites
in Lexington. The chapter provides services to persons with MS and their families
in more than 100 Kentucky counties.

Ag Heritage weekend

The Twin Lakes Ag-Heritage Association is holding
an Ag Heritage weekend June 16-17 at the Grayson County Ag Park south of Leitchfield
on Highway 259, to support the local 4-H and FFA. The event will feature antique
tractor displays, tractor pulls, games, and demonstrations on how agriculture
has progressed. Admission is $3; children 10 and under get in free. For more

State Fair deadline

July 1 marks the entry deadline for most of the
28 competitive entry departments and thousands of categories in the 2001 Kentucky
State Fair, with more than $240,000 in total cash awards. Entry forms, rules,
and guidelines are listed in the 2001 Kentucky State Fair entry catalog. The
catalogs are free and available from county Extension offices. Additional requests
