LOCAL HERO

The career of Hardin County native Carl Brashear will be
playing on screens nationwide beginning November 10 in the movie Men of Honor,
starring Cuba Gooding Jr. playing Brashear, and Robert DeNiro and Hal Holbrook.
The film tells the story of the first African-American diver in the U.S. Navy.
Among the more dramatic aspects of Brashear’s story is that he lost a leg on
a mission, but later continued as a diver.
