Holiday Hayride

A Victorian Christmas
See the White Hall State Historic Site mansion, near Richmond, decked out for the holidays and learn about how the Victorians celebrated Christmas. This is a special, self-guided tour with light refreshments at the end. Tours are on Dec. 3-4 and Dec. 10-11, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Call (859) 623-9178 for details.
New Year’s Eve celebrations
Spend New Year’s Eve at Lake Barkley or Cumberland Falls state resort parks or another state park near you. Many of the resort parks will offer New Year’s Eve special overnight packages, including meals and entertainment. Lake Barkley will feature the Southwind Band in its package. Cumberland Falls will have a package featuring dinner, dance, and breakfast on New Year’s Day. Visit www.parks.ky.gov for information and reservations. Ask about bonus night rates.
“Everything Eagles” Van Tour
Winter is peak season for bald eagle viewing at Land Between The Lakes. Both the year-round resident eagles and visiting winter “snowbirds” are out looking for fish around the lakes. Spend the day visiting some of LBL’s eagle-viewing hot spots during this staff-led tour. The event, on Dec. 11 from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., begins at the Golden Pond Visitor Center. Admission: $7 adults, $5 children. Registration is limited, and reservations and full deposits are required. Call (270) 924-2020 to reserve space. Bring binoculars; moderate walking may be required.
