Gourd Art Show & Arts Fair

The 14th Annual Kentucky Gourd Art Show runs Saturday and Sunday, May 17-18, at Spencer County Elementary, with the theme Shape Up with Gourds.
The public is invited to the Gourd Art Show on Saturday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. (exhibits open at 10 a.m.) and Sunday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. There will be a Gourd General Store for shopping and a Gourd Car Derby where kids can build a gourd car Saturday morning, with a Derby Race at 3 p.m.

The Arts Fair runs Saturday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m., downtown Taylorsville on Main Street. Catch the trolley to the Gourd Art Show, downtown, and parking lots.
In addition to juried arts and crafts booths on Saturday, there will be a Gourd Head Motorcycle Run with prizes, registration 12:30–2 p.m. A Kids’ Corner includes crafts/games, fingerprinting, and inspection of car seats; there’s a Baby Show and Prince and Princess Contest. Enter the Antique Car Show for $5 pre-registration; $8 day of show. Buy your raffle ticket for a special gourd by bronze sculptor artist Raymond Graf. Food vendors are donating all profits to charitable groups. The evening ends with Main Street closing at 6 p.m. for live mountain/folk bluegrass music from 7-11 p.m.
Also tied to the event is an Armed Forces Recognition at Spencer Christian Church in Elk Creek, off Highway 155, from 9–11 a.m., with a fly-over, maneuvers, film, and ceremony. Call (502) 477-8049 for more information.
