Battle of Mill Springs
Attend the annual observance of the Battle of Mill Springs, January 22 at Zollicoffer Park in Nancy. Kentucky’s second-largest Civil War battle was fought there January 19, 1862, and was the first significant Union victory of the war. Enjoy the serenity of the Cumberland Mountains during the Winter Photography Weekend at Pine Mountain State Resort Park in Pineville, January 28-30. The event offers inspirational and instructional evening shows and a digital photo competition. Registration is required for the photo competition. The fine art of quilting
Don’t miss two special exhibits at The National Quilt Museum in Paducah. Combining collage, fine appliqué, and fine quilting, broderie perse (also known as cut-out chintz appliqué) presents a high point in the art of quiltmaking. The Contemporary Broderie Perse Exhibit runs through February 15. Also, through March 7, Everchanging River: more than 30 quilters are given a piece of river fabric along with entrance and exit points. Their quilts are hung together to create a 49-foot river.
